I was raised in Rocky Mountain National Park and have spent a lifetime exploring the Colorado high country. From elk migration patterns to off-the-beaten-path day hikes, I know the backroads and backcountry of this region better than most.
As a former ranger here, I’ve had unforgettable wildlife encounters—including locking eyes with a wolf carrying a caribou bone. Whether you’re looking to hike, spot wildlife, or better understand this vast landscape, I can help guide your experience.
I’ve worked with both the National Park Service and Arizona Game & Fish in this region and know the Sonoran Desert’s unique ecology and archaeological sites inside and out.
I spent a full season as the Schoodic specialist in Acadia. If you want to skip the crowds and experience the wild waves, hidden hikes, and dramatic coastline of this less-traveled section, I’ve got you covered.
I spent two years working in different parts of the North Cascades and know both the east and west sides of the park. Whether you’re after alpine hiking, river valley trails, or peaceful solitude, I can point you in the right direction.
From giant trees to quiet canyons, I’ve explored Sequoia-Kings in depth as a ranger and can help you find meaningful ways to experience these sacred landscapes.
I’ve traveled extensively across more than 50 countries, with deep experience in German-speaking regions and much of Eastern and Central Europe. I can help travelers connect history, culture, and outdoor experiences across the continent.
Hi, I’m Steve. I was raised in Rocky Mountain National Park and spent much of my life hunting, fishing, and learning the rhythms of the mountains. After a corporate career, I followed my lifelong passion and joined the National Park Service, serving as a ranger in parks from Alaska to Maine.
I love helping travelers of all ages experience the outdoors with curiosity and confidence. Whether you’re watching waves crash along the Maine coast, learning about Pueblo ruins in the Southwest, or chasing wildlife through Denali, I believe nature is our greatest teacher. These days, I also give weekly seminars and workshops on nature, history, and travel—and I still get just as excited about sharing stories and inspiring awe.
