Get To Know Zoe Woods

Hey, I’m Zoe! I’ve spent years working as a National Park Ranger, hiking guide, and outdoor educator, helping people experience some of the most incredible landscapes in North America. I know Rocky Mountain, Glacier, and Alaska’s vast wilderness inside and out—from the best trails for all skill levels to scenic drives, glacier adventures, and where to escape the crowds. Whether you’re traveling solo, with kids, or planning a multi-generational trip, I can help you craft the perfect experience in the parks.

I grew up in Colorado, where my love for the mountains started early, but it wasn’t until college that I discovered backpacking and outdoor education. That passion led me to my first role at Rocky Mountain National Park, where I worked as an interpretive ranger and hiked nearly every trail while helping visitors make the most of their trips. From there, I moved on to guiding in Glacier National Park and later worked as a Forest Ranger in Alaska’s Chugach National Forest, assisting travelers in planning everything from glacier hikes to epic road trips across the Last Frontier.

I love helping people find the perfect way to experience the outdoors—whether it’s a first-time adventurer looking for an easy but rewarding hike or a seasoned traveler mapping out a multi-week backcountry expedition. As a queer adventurer, I’ve personally experienced the outdoors as a place of refuge, healing, and connection, and I’m passionate about making sure others feel welcome in these spaces.

My Favorite Adventures

🏔️ Paddleboarding to a glacier – Nothing beats the silence of gliding across an icy blue glacial lake with massive peaks towering above you.

🚴 Biking Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier – Grueling but 100% worth it for the breathtaking scenery and the feeling of total freedom.

🐋 Kayaking with humpback whales – A whale surfaced so close to our kayak in Glacier Bay that we felt the spray from its blowhole. Unreal.

🌌 Chasing the Northern Lights in the Yukon – One of the most magical moments of my life, deep in the wilderness on my road trip to Alaska.

Fun Facts About Me

🍷 Certified sommelier & foodie – I used to lead food & wine tours in Denver and love finding the best eats wherever I travel.

✍️ Writer & Poet – I do freelance writing on glacier tourism and have had poetry published.

🗣️ Fluent Spanish Speaker – I lived in Madrid, have worked with Spanish-speaking visitors in National Parks, and even teach ski lessons in Spanish!

Where Zoe can help

📍 Rocky Mountain National Park (Colorado)

I’ve worked at Beaver Meadows Visitor Center, guided families, solo travelers, and multi-generational groups through the park, and can help you pick the perfect hike for your ability level—from easy lakeside walks to breathtaking alpine treks.

📍 Glacier National Park (Montana)

I’ve guided hiking and driving tours, biked up Going-to-the-Sun Road, and know exactly how to navigate this stunning but logistically tricky park. Whether you want backcountry solitude or accessible scenic stops, I’ll help you plan the best approach.

📍 Alaska & the Chugach National Forest

As a Forest Ranger in Alaska, I worked at Begich Boggs Visitor Center, one of the most important trip-planning hubs in the state. I can help with everything from glacier hikes and sea kayaking to crafting an epic road trip through Alaska and Canada.

📍 Alaska-Canada Highway Route

If you’re road-tripping from the Lower 48 to Alaska, I’ve done the drive myself and can help you map out the best stops, detours, and where to see the northern lights along the way.
