I retired from New River Gorge after years as a park ranger and interpreter. Whether you’re interested in whitewater rafting, mountain biking, or exploring the region’s rich industrial and natural history, I can help you experience southern West Virginia like a local.
I spent seasons living and working in Alaska’s coastal parks, helping visitors connect with some of the wildest landscapes in the country. From sea kayaking in Glacier Bay to historic insights in Skagway and Juneau, I know how to plan for weather, wildlife, and logistics in these remote areas.
Getting to Dry Tortugas is half the adventure—and I can help you make the most of your time once you arrive. I’ve snorkeled its reefs, explored the fort, and helped countless visitors prepare for this off-grid park in the Gulf of Mexico.
With a background in both history and outdoor interpretation, I love helping travelers find the perfect mix of scenic trails, cultural landmarks, and wildlife in the Smokies.
As a historian and former ranger, I can offer a deep dive into this region’s colonial past—from guided battlefield walks to hidden local museums and engaging living history.
Hi, I’m William. I grew up on a farm wandering fields looking for arrowheads, so it’s no surprise that I combined my love of the outdoors with a deep passion for history. I’ve worked as a National Park Service ranger and educator across more than 12 park sites, helping people connect with nature and the stories of place.
Most recently, I retired from New River Gorge National Park in West Virginia. These days, my wife and I run a small business designing wayside signs for local parks, and we’re heading back to school soon to study art! Whether you’re looking to get off the beaten path, uncover regional history, or just find the best trails and views, I’m excited to help.
