Get To Know Emily Schrick

Hi, I’m Emily! My love for the outdoors started in college with weekend day hikes and photography—and quickly snowballed into something much bigger. I’ve thru-hiked the Pacific Crest Trail, trekked Patagonia’s O Circuit, and explored hundreds of miles of backcountry in the Sierra.

For 6 years, I worked at REI helping people prep for adventures big and small—whether they were gearing up for the John Muir Trail or just starting to car camp. These days, I focus on helping solo travelers, especially women and older adventurers, feel more confident planning their own long-distance hikes and nature-forward getaways.

Whether you’re dreaming about Yosemite’s Half Dome, the Trans-Catalina Trail, or hiking your first few miles on a longer route—I’d love to help you get there.

"Thru-hiking the PCT taught me about myself, nature, and how far my body could take me—it was the most challenging and rewarding thing I’ve ever done."

Where Emily can help

📍 California

I’ve spent countless nights in the Sierra and know Yosemite, the High Sierra Trail, the John Muir Trail, and the Trans-Catalina Trail intimately. I love helping others plan meaningful solo or group hikes across the state’s most iconic landscapes.

📍 Washington

The Wonderland Trail around Mount Rainier is one of my favorite treks. I can offer tips on weather, timing, permits, and planning for this rugged, scenic loop.

📍 Colorado

I’ve completed the Colorado Trail and love helping first-timers understand how to approach high-altitude hiking and the logistics of longer backpacking routes.

📍 Chile (Patagonia)

Hiking the O Circuit in Torres del Paine was a life highlight. If you’re planning a trek in Patagonia, I can help with gear prep, seasonality, and expectations on trail.

📍 Pacific Crest Trail

I thru-hiked the PCT solo and can help with every stage—from deciding if it’s right for you to section-hiking strategy, gear, and mental prep.
