I’ve spent countless nights in the Sierra and know Yosemite, the High Sierra Trail, the John Muir Trail, and the Trans-Catalina Trail intimately. I love helping others plan meaningful solo or group hikes across the state’s most iconic landscapes.
Based in San Francisco, I can help plan trips in and around the city that blend culture, nature, and great eats.
The Wonderland Trail around Mount Rainier is one of my favorite treks. I can offer tips on weather, timing, permits, and planning for this rugged, scenic loop.
I’ve completed the Colorado Trail and love helping first-timers understand how to approach high-altitude hiking and the logistics of longer backpacking routes.
Hiking the O Circuit in Torres del Paine was a life highlight. If you’re planning a trek in Patagonia, I can help with gear prep, seasonality, and expectations on trail.
I thru-hiked the PCT solo and can help with every stage—from deciding if it’s right for you to section-hiking strategy, gear, and mental prep.
Hi, I’m Emily! My love for the outdoors started in college with weekend day hikes and photography—and quickly snowballed into something much bigger. I’ve thru-hiked the Pacific Crest Trail, trekked Patagonia’s O Circuit, and explored hundreds of miles of backcountry in the Sierra.
For 6 years, I worked at REI helping people prep for adventures big and small—whether they were gearing up for the John Muir Trail or just starting to car camp. These days, I focus on helping solo travelers, especially women and older adventurers, feel more confident planning their own long-distance hikes and nature-forward getaways. I am currently based in San Francisco, and can help with any urban adventure as well.
Whether you’re dreaming about Yosemite’s Half Dome, the Trans-Catalina Trail, or hiking your first few miles on a longer route—I’d love to help you get there.
🥾 Pacific Crest Trail Thru-hike – Solo hiking the PCT was incredible and taught me so much about myself and my capabilities physically and mentally.
👩👧 Thru-hiking the John Muir Trail with my mom – This was such a special hike. I loved supporting her on her first thru-hike and being together for nearly a month in one of the most beautiful places in the world!
🚐 Road tripping Iceland’s Ring Road solo – Getting to explore Iceland on my own schedule for 2 weeks was so much fun. From spur-of-the-moment whale watching to last-minute detours to try to see puffins—it’s the best way to enjoy Iceland!
⛰️ Hiking Bobotov Kuk, Montenegro – I decided to visit Montenegro because I saw a picture of this mountain and knew I needed to climb it! It was such a steep hike, but so much fun and really beautiful and fun to hang out with the locals—the mountain dogs who hang out and hike with the humans!
🌲 Every Visit to Yosemite National Park – I try to visit Yosemite at least once a year. I’ve been in all seasons—from snowshoeing on Glacier Point Road to high country backpacking in the summer. I’ve camped, stayed in lodging, and backpacked, and every trip always holds something special. I love helping people plan their trips to Yosemite.
