I currently work as an environmental educator with Friends of the Los Angeles River, teaching students about the natural history of this often-overlooked ecosystem. I also volunteer on youth camping and hiking trips, helping first-time adventurers find comfort outdoors. On my own time, I love backpacking the California coast—especially Point Reyes, where I’ve experienced some of my most meaningful solo trips.
I grew up spending summers in the Adirondacks, learning outdoor skills from my dad (a scoutmaster) and exploring trails around a rustic summer camp. I love helping travelers reconnect with nature in this classic East Coast wilderness.
When I was furloughed during the pandemic, I rediscovered my love of the outdoors by exploring Virginia. It’s where I took my first solo backpacking trip, learned how to hike with my cat, and fell in love with outdoor adventure as an adult.
After years at a desk job, I left it all behind and moved west to begin a career in outdoor education and guiding. I’ve driven solo across the U.S. twice and know how to build flexible, empowering itineraries for independent travelers ready to make a change.
Hi, I’m Rebekah! I grew up learning about the outdoors from my dad on summer trips to the Adirondacks. After getting furloughed during the pandemic, I reconnected with nature through solo backpacking and exploring my new home in Virginia. One thing led to another—and now I’ve built an entirely new life and career outdoors.
Over the last few years, I’ve worked as a backpacking and kayak guide with REI Experiences and now teach environmental education in Los Angeles. I love working with first-time adventurers and multigenerational groups, helping people gain confidence, learn new skills, and experience the kind of wonder that keeps us coming back to the trail.
