Rebekah Geiselman

Profession:

Former Professional Guide | Outdoor Educator | Wilderness First Responder | Extreme Athlete

Hi, I’m Rebekah! I grew up learning about the outdoors from my dad on summer trips to the Adirondacks. After getting furloughed during the pandemic, I reconnected with nature through solo backpacking and exploring my new home in Virginia. One thing led to another—and now I’ve built an entirely new life and career outdoors.

Over the last few years, I’ve worked as a backpacking and kayak guide with REI Experiences and now teach environmental education in Los Angeles. I love working with first-time adventurers and multigenerational groups, helping people gain confidence, learn new skills, and experience the kind of wonder that keeps us coming back to the trail.

Laura Scharle

Profession:

Former Professional Guide | Outdoor Educator | National Park Ranger | Travel Advisor

Hi, I’m Laura! I’ve spent my life by the water—first as a marine science-obsessed kid in the Chesapeake Bay region, then as a guide and park ranger leading kayak tours, beach walks, and outdoor festivals across Delaware’s seashore parks. For 17 years, I helped visitors of all backgrounds connect with nature through recreation, interpretation, and storytelling.

Today, I run Delmarva Trails and Waterways, a resource I built to connect people with the outdoors through real, local knowledge. I also help outdoor organizations with marketing and custom maps. Whether you’re a solo paddler looking for a new route or a family planning your first beach weekend with the kids, I’d love to help you make it feel possible—and exciting.

Billy Strasser

Profession:

National Park Ranger | Outdoor Educator

Hi, I’m William. I grew up on a farm wandering fields looking for arrowheads, so it’s no surprise that I combined my love of the outdoors with a deep passion for history. I’ve worked as a National Park Service ranger and educator across more than 12 park sites, helping people connect with nature and the stories of place.

Most recently, I retired from New River Gorge National Park in West Virginia. These days, my wife and I run a small business designing wayside signs for local parks, and we’re heading back to school soon to study art! Whether you’re looking to get off the beaten path, uncover regional history, or just find the best trails and views, I’m excited to help.

Mary Leavines

Profession:

Professional Guide

Hi, I’m Mary! In 2022, I achieved a lifelong goal of thru-hiking the entire Appalachian Trail as a solo female hiker. Since then, I’ve completed 650+ miles of the Pacific Crest Trail, owned and operated a thru-hiker hostel, and guided backpacking trips across the Blue Ridge Mountains and beyond. I’m passionate about helping solo hikers and first-time adventurers feel prepared, safe, and excited to take on the trail. Whether you’re planning your first overnight trip or looking to tackle a long-distance trek, I’d love to help you plan your journey.
